20th Century Fox Original One-Sheet Poster (27x41) Linen Backed Fine Plus Restored to Very Fine
20th Century Fox Original One-Sheet Poster (27x41) for the musical film ICELAND (1942) starring Olympian Sonja Henie and John Payne. Fox had paired the two a year before in the successful SUN VALLEY SERENADE and the chemistry between the two was good. Also John Payne had played a U.S. Marine previously --- and this film is set in Iceland during the U.S. Marines occupation of the Island in 1942. Henie was a wonderful skater with a great sense of showmanship and this fit well with the Fox musical idea. There was at least one nice song in the film, "There Will Never Be Another You." The skating numbers are skillfully staged and Henie's partner in those was U.S. Champion skater Eugene Turner. The poster is a beautiful Fox stone lithograph and the poster has been restored to very fine from a native condition of fine, with some repairs of small tears and pinholes, but very minimal paper replacement.
